Steve was born and spent his childhood in the west riding of Yorkshire before going to college in Sunderland to gain his degree in Maths and Physics. Whilst at college he joined the Royal Air Force as a pilot and subsequently flew the Lockheed Hercules and Scottish Aviation Bulldog – the latter as an instructor. It was during his time at RAF Lyneham that Steve moved to Froxfield in 1978. He left the RAF in 1988 and joined Britannia Airways and flew Boeing 737, 757 and 767s during their transition through Thomson to Tui and retired in 2009.
He has always maintained an active interest in the well-being of the village and formalised that recently by becoming a member of the Parish Council.
