On a damp Saturday 24th October, 14 stalwart villagers donned their gloves and wellies and got stuck in clearing nettles and weeds from the sapling hedge that was planted along the footpath of the water meadow. Weed membrane was put down and barrowfuls of bark chippings kindly donated from a local tree surgeon were applied as a mulch over the top to supress regrowth of the nettles. The rain held off just long enough to do the whole hedge. It now looks much tidier and will give the saplings a much better chance to get established.
Thanks to all those who gave their time to help out!
