Froxfield Morris Dancers (The Pelicans)

Morris Dancing in Froxfield !

Froxfields own Morris Dancing ‘Side’ – Froxfield Pelicans Morris, started life early in 2017 after a group of villagers decided it would be great to form a group to dance at the village fete. We quickly found six dancers and eventually a melodeon player and have been dancing ever since !
We currently have a mixed side of nine dancers and an excellent musician, and perform for village functions, dance outs and gatherings around the area dancing both Cotswold and Border dances.
Our ‘kit’ is based on the yellow, red and blue colours of the Dukes and Duchesses of Somerset, with their links to Froxfield, and the name comes of course from the local pub, where else ?!
We welcome new members and meet most Friday evenings throughout the year at 7.30pm in the Froxfield Memorial Hall to practice our existing repertoire and learn new dances. Afterwards you will often find some of us in “The Pelican” from around 9pm.
If you are interested in dancing or play a melodeon, accordion, violin/fiddle, whistles or drums (or any other instrument !) you are most welcome to come and join in the fun and get fit at the same time !!
